IL DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE & ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY (DCEO)
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s mission is to support and maintain a strong economic environment for Illinois taxpayers, employers, workers, and communities. As the economic development branch of the State, DCEO works to recruit and grow businesses, build a 21st-century workforce, enhance innovation, and bring jobs and investment opportunities to underserved communities throughout Illinois. DCEO works closely with the Bureau’s Office of Regional Economic Development (RED) and the Office of Minority Economic Empowerment (OMEE) to offer a menu of programming designed to help businesses of all sizes and industries to succeed.
- Distributed more than $49 million to 2,800 businesses spanning more than 400 communities
- 50% of grants went to minority-owned businesses
- $25 million in disproportionately impacted areas (DIAs)
- $19.66 million for 1,119 companies in severe DIAs (DIAs that also were affected by civil unrest)
- 684 grants totaling more than $11.9 million have gone to downstate businesses
Bureau’s Office of Regional Economic Development (RED)
The Bureau of Regional Economic Development (RED) serves as the State of Illinois’ primary marketing and recruitment arm, responsible for helping businesses expand, grow and relocate to Illinois to create a thriving and inclusive economy.
Office of Minority Economic Empowerment (OMEE)
The Office of Minority Economic Empowerment (OMEE) is committed to providing minority, women, persons with disabilities, and veteran-owned small businesses and entrepreneurs across the state with equitable access to opportunities and resources.
DCEO NEEDED A ROBUST REPORTING PLATFORM
The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity of Illinois (DCEO) needed a web-based, mobile-friendly platform that would allow for the collection, management, storage, and reporting of data. Previously, using their legacy system, they could not view dashboards in a centralized database that would allow for a brief display of state reporting needs and track all business engagements with other state entities and bureaus. In addition, DCEO was looking for efficient communication with other businesses to quickly deliver information while capturing all business contracts and interactions.
DCEO IMPLEMENTS SALESFORCE SALES CLOUD
DCEO contracted Provisio Partners to implement Salesforce Sales Cloud to collect and track the Bureau’s Office of Regional Economic Development and Office of Minority Economic Empowerment activities. The Provisio team quickly brought the system to life and worked closely with DCEO to offer demonstrations of their new platform. These learning sessions included a demo that focused explicitly on reporting and dashboards and web-based, interactive training to support them in their user acceptance. DCEO would use Salesforce to track Illinois businesses, state and local units of government, consultants, chambers, and other entities to provide information and assistance on Illinois’ programs and services for companies currently active in Illinois or those that want to be. This system will assist RED and OMEE in increasing economic development and job creation in Illinois.
Salesforce Sales Cloud provides DCEO with:
- Tracking for all Regional Economic Development (RED) and the Office of Minority Economic Empowerment (OMEE) Bureau’s business engagement
- Scalable support for additional Bureaus as new needs arise
- Mobile functionality
- Web-to-lead form to create an opportunity for IL Business Customers to complete an online intake form that auto-filled as a lead within Salesforce
- An activity log that allows users to generate a report on the number of Businesses that received funding from each Program and/or those who may be eligible for a program
DCEO CAN ACHIEVE MORE WITH SALESFORCE SALES CLOUD
With Provisio Partners Salesforce expertise, DCEO implemented a dynamic CRM system that stores data such as related business contacts, program and project information, and business-related documents all within one centralized database. As a result, they can now utilize robust reporting and track business engagement for all partnered Bureaus and business entities.
